Description:A virtual and physical acceleration program targeting innovative ‘green’ entrepreneurs in Kenya and South Africa. Hivos funded the program which was designed, implemented and managed by VC4A.
VC4A role and results: VC4A sourced applications and managed the screening of ventures for participation in the Green Pioneer Accelerator. Ten ventures were selected for intensive three-month acceleration programs hosted at Growth Africa in Nairobi, Kenya and at Impact Amplifier in Cape Town, South Africa. Non-selected participants received virtual incubation support via membership to VC4A. 300 entrepreneurs were identified in the green pioneer category operating in Kenya and South Africa. 20 ventures received intensive acceleration support and investor networking opportunities. Hivos Investments made euro 50,000 investments into the top companies that emerged from each program.
